Derwent Tree

Derwent Tree
Image size: 560mm x 760mm

I drew Derwent Tree using sticks of willow charcoal on the shore or Derwent Water Lake, at Keswick in the English Lake District, in an unexpected brief spell of hot weather in May 2019.

The tree struck me as having particularly lovely proportions. Despite having a complex branch structure and competing with all manner of weeds and wild hedgerow plants around its trunk, in its upper branches it had a balance an an elegance that eludes some trees. I doubt the structure of this tree would have been visible for much longer, after it came fully into leaf. I had caught it at just the right time!

Derwent Tree is drawn on 300 gsm heavily textured watercolour paper that measures 560mm x 760mm. The edges of the photograph of this picture match exactly the edges of the paper on which it is drawn.

Derwent Tree is not a print, and so is not one of many in an edition. Rather, it is a unique and original piece of art.

The price shown includes postage and packing for delivery to a UK address. Every drawing dispatched is wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and securely packaged in a sturdy cardboard tube, and delivered to the address required by post via Royal Mail or Parcel Force (depending on the size of the drawing) and signed for upon delivery.

If you would like a drawing delivered to an address outside the UK, please let me know when ordering and I will investigate whether you need to pay anything extra to cover the increased postage price.
